New Delhi: The Punjab police on Friday released posters of Al-Qaeda's commander Zakir Moosa, who was reportedly seen in Amritsar. The posters have been placed all over Punjab, with a message requesting people to inform cops in case they see someone similar. “We had inputs about his movements near Amritsar. So we have released wanted posters of him to make public aware & have requested public to tell us if they have any information” Gurdaspur SSP Swarandeep Singh said.

“We had inputs that some Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists have infiltrated in Punjab through Ferozpur; so, have taken precautionary measures. Extra forces have been deployed. Checking is underway” he added.

This comes after 4 suspects snatched an Innova car at a gunpoint in Madhopur, Pathankot. After this incident, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and neighbouring areas were put on high alert.

As per a letter issued by Intelligence agencies, seven members of JeM group have been spotted in Firozpur, post which an alert has been issued by the police. Special searches are being done in Dinanagar and Gurdaspur; where posters of terrorist Jakir Moosa have been placed in every police station.

The security has been beefed at the Punjab border and neighbouring areas.
