Pune: Two Army majors have been arrested by the Pune Police in connection with the Army paper. One of the major who is 45 years old was arrested from Delhi after being interogated days before. Now, Pune Police has arrested another major from Tamil Nadu. 


According to a press release, Pune Police on Tuesday arrested the Army officer of Major rank from Delhi. He was produced before Pune court where the court has granted his police custody till March 15th 2021 said an ANI report.

Meanwhile, Major Thiru Murugan Thangavelu, who was serving at an Army establishment in Tamil Nadu before his arrest was remanded to police custody of eight days by the court. Police claimed that Tanguvelu had sent a question paper to some of the accused through WhatsApp.


According to an ANI report, Public Prosecutor Prem Kumar Agrawal said "The accused has shared an exam question paper with other accused arrested in the case. We have recovered a mobile phone from his possession but that's not working since the accused claims it was dropped in water and has been severely damaged. We have to investigate further links and retrieve the data from his mobile." Upon hearing both sides of the arguement, Additional Session Judge S R Navandar granted police custody of the accused to Pune City Police.


A team from the Anti Extortion Cell of Pune Police had gone to Delhi to investigate the paper leak case and were working closely with the Military Intelligence Unit in Delhi. 


Seven people including two majors have been arrested in this case so far.
