Bastar: Amid concerns across the nation over the novel coronavirus pandemic becoming more intense with each passing day, a pregnant Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) is winning the hearts of the people as her photograph regulating traffic and ensuring that people adhere to Covid-19 guidelines in Chhattisgarh is being widely shared on social media.


Dantewada DSP Shilpa Sahu is seen wearing a mask and standing with a stick in her right hand under the scorching sun in Bastar in the picture while urging the locals to follow Covid guidelines and stay indoors amid the surge in infections.

The picture went viral after Additional Transport Commissioner Dipanshu Kabra shared it on Twitter.


“The picture is of Dantewada DSP Shilpa Sahu. Shilpa is busy with her team on the streets in the scorching sun even during pregnancy and is appealing to the people to follow the lockdown,” he tweeted in Hindi.

The senior cop also asked the people to behave responsibly and exercise constraint amid the surge in cases.


“Police is trying everything possible these days to save people from the second wave of Corona infection. You should also play the role of a responsible citizen and be safe at home during the lockdown,” he wrote.

Several others, however, expressed concern with regard to the DSP’s health while advising her to stay at home during the pregnancy period.

“Motherhood is a dual responsibility. The would-be mother herself and the unborn child. I do not approve of being on duty when even Govt gives maternity leave. Bringing a new soul to life is challenging and hence taking self-care is important,” posted another.
