A Bengaluru court on Monday remanded suspended Janata Dal (S) leader Prajwal Revanna to judicial custody till June 24, in connection with sexual assault case. On May 30, the SIT had arrested Prajwal at the Bengaluru Airport on his arrival from Germany. Revanna fled the country as soon as news broke out about the Karnataka State Commission for Women's request Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking probe into the huge cache of explicit videos showing several women being sexually assaulted by him.

Following his arrest by the SIT, the court had remanded him to custody till June 6, which was later extended till June 10.

So far, the sitting MP from Hassan has been booked in two cases of sexual assault.

Last week, Revanna’s mother Bhavani Revanna who is accused of kidnapping the alleged sexual assault victim in this case, was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court.

Prajwal Revanna’s father and JD(S) MLA H D Revanna is also facing charges of kidnapping the rape victim and he was granted bail in the same. The SIT has challenged the bail and that case has been adjourned till June 14. The court will hear the plea filed by H D Revanna to cancel the Kidnapping case against him on June 21.

After being on the run for days, Prajwal released a video message in which he promised to appear before the SIT on May 31 and cooperate in the probe.

The JD(S) MP's video message came amid reports that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is in the process of canceling his diplomatic passport under the provisions of the Passports Act of 1967 and related regulations. He said that the allegations were a political conspiracy against him amid the Lok Sabha elections season.

"On Friday 31st May at 10 am I will appear before SIT and provide all information related to the investigation. I will support the investigation. I have faith in the judiciary...," he said in the self-made video.

NDA candidate on JD(S) ticket from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency was arrested the moment he landed on the airport.
