New Delhi: West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party president Sukanata Majumdar on Monday alleged that Section 144 was not imposed in the areas that they wanted to visit and that the police was not cooperating with them.
"Police is in no mood to cooperate with us. Sec 144 CrPC has not been imposed where we are and where we want to go, still, they are stopping us. We told them that the three of us will go on foot. Still, they are not allowing us. This Police works on the order of TMC,” Majumdar told news agency ANI.
The BJP leaders visit to the violence-hit areas came as the police stopped them from entering Rishra on Monday amid continued prohibitory orders and suspended internet services.
"I am not being allowed to meet my injured party workers. The police are citing the prohibitory orders. The police can at least allow Mahato and me to enter. The police do not want to allow me as they want to hide the truth," the BJP leader told reporters, reported PTI.
Majumdar, accompanied by BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahto demanded immediate deployment of central forces as the leaders were barred from visiting Rishra adding that state police had completely failed to control the situation.
BJP National Vice President Dilip Ghosh also cornered the Trinamool Congress-led Bengal government saying the state has become like “Bangladesh and Afghanistan”.

“Hindus will be attacked if they come out of their house. The current government doesn’t have the capacity to manage the law & order of the state and they’re passing the blame onto others,” he added.
Violent clashes had broken out during Ram Navami procession in Rishra and Serampore areas in Hooghly district on Sunday and the police said the situation was peaceful and under control on Monday and would likely improve in the afternoon.
