New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur and Tripura today to inaugurate 22 projects in Manipur and the New Integrated Terminal Building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Tripura. PM Modi will be in Imphal, Manipur at 11 AM, and from there he will go to Agartala, Tripura at around 2 PM.


In the poll-bound state of Manipur, the PM will inaugurate 13 projects worth Rs 1850 crores, and lay the foundation stone of nine projects worth Rs 2950 crores.

According to a press release by the Prime Minister’s office, “These projects relate to diverse sectors such as Road Infrastructure, Drinking Water Supply, Health, Urban Development, Housing, Information Technology, Skill Development, Art and Culture, among others.”


The projects to be inaugurated are the steel bridge built over the Barak river on NH 37 which would improve the year-long connectivity to Silchar from Imphal. In order to improve the connectivity and reduce traffic congestion, the PM will lay the foundation stone of five National Highways with a cumulative length of 110 kilometers. 


The PM will also dedicate the 2,387 mobile towers to the people of Manipur which would boost the mobile connectivity in the region. The towers are built at a cost of Rs 1100 crores. Besides, he will also inaugurate the drinking water projects in Imphal that would provide clean drinking water to every household.

Other projects to be inaugurated by the PM include the State of the Art Cancer Hospital, a 200 bedded Covid hospital at Kiyamgei built in collaboration with DRDO, Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Development of Western Riverfront on Imphal River (Phase I), and ‘Development of Mall Road at Thangal Bazar (Phase I).


He will also lay the foundation stone of the Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT) which will provide a “boost to the Information Technology sector, besides creating employment opportunities in the state” among other projects.


PM In Tripura


During his visit to Tripura, the PM will inaugurate the New Integrated Terminal Building of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport and launch key initiatives like Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana and Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools.


The airport is a state-of-the-art building, built at a cost of Rs 450 crores, spread over 30,000 square meters with modern facilities and an IT network-integrated system. 


Project Mission 100 of Vidyajyoti Schools is aimed at improving education in the state by converting 100 existing schools into Vidyajyoti Schools. And the Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana targets to set the benchmark for service delivery in core development sectors at the village level.
