Prime Minister Narendra Modi will observe the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 in Ladakh. According to PTI, Lt Governor Brig B.D. Mishra (Retd) has reviewed arrangements for PM Modi’s visit.

Grand celebrations to mark the 'Rajat Jayanti' of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war are scheduled to be conducted in Drass, Kargil district, from July 24 to July 26.

PTI quoted an official spokesman as saying that Mishra held a meeting at the Lt Governor's secretariat in Leh to discuss the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit to the Kargil War Memorial at Drass.

The meeting involved discussions on the security and reception at the Drass helipad, necessary arrangements for his motorcade, the procedure for the wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial, interaction with war widows, and preparation of a green room at the helipad, the spokesman said. PM Modi is likely to rest in the green room before leaving for the Kargil War Memorial.

The Lt Governor discussed the arrangements at the Drass brigade helipad with the General Officer Commanding of 8 Mountain Division, Major General Sachin Malik.

A Special Protection Group (SPG) team will arrive in Ladakh on Tuesday, and conduct a coordination meeting with the Army, police and civil administration.

The spokesman said Mishra had directed the officers concerned to complete the arrangements on time. The Ladakh Lt Governor said he will visit the Kargil War Memorial on July 24 to inspect the arrangements.

On PM Modi’s activities during the day, Maj General Malik said he would land at the Drass brigade helipad on the morning of July 26, where he will be received by Army officials, PTI reported. He will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony, followed by a visit to the 'Shaheed Marg (Wall of Fame)'. The Prime Minister will sign the visitors' book and inspect the Museum of Kargil War artefacts.

He will also sit for a briefing on the Kargil War, followed by a group photograph.
