New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Andhra Pradesh’s Bhimavaram today where he will launch the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of freedom fighter Alluri Sitaram Raju. At around 11 am today, the PM will launch the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Bhimavaram, a statement by the PMO said.
Later in the day, PM Modi will visit Gujarat’s Gandhinagar where he will be inaugurating the Digital India Week, the PMO said. After concluding his schedule in Bhimavaram, he will inaugurate the Digital India Week at around 4:30 pm.
PM Modi’s Visit To Bhimavaram
On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitaram Raju, PM Modi will launch the year-long celebration and will also unveil a 30-feet tall bronze statue of the tribal leader. Born on July 4, 1897, Raju is remembered for his fight against the British, in order to safeguard interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region.
Referred to as “Manyam Veerudu” by the local people, Raju had led the Rampa Rebellion which was launched in the year 1922.
The government has planned a series of initiatives as part of the year-long celebration. To mark 100 years of Rampa Rebellion – the attack on Chintapalli Police Station that marked its beginning, the birthplace of Raju at Pandrangi in Vizianagaram district and the police station will be restored, the statement said.
PM Modi To Gandhinagar
Prime Minister Modi’s Bhimavaram visit will be followed by a visit to his home state of Gujarat where he will inaugurate the Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar. The theme for this year’s Digital India Week is ‘Catalysing New India’s Techade.
During the programme, the Prime Minister will launch multiple digital initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility of technology, streamlining service delivery to ensure ease of living and giving a boost to startups.
Prime Minister Modi will also launch ‘Digital India Bhashini’ which will enable easy access to the internet and digital services in Indian languages, including voice-based access, and help the creation of content in Indian languages, the PMO said.
The PM will also launch ‘Digital India GENESIS’ (Gen-next Support for Innovative Startups) – a National Deep-tech Startup Platform. A total outlay of Rs 750 Crore has been envisaged for the scheme, the statement said.
