New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today at 5pm in Lok Sabha respond on discussion over Motion of Thanks on President Ram Nath Kovind’s speech in the parliament. The discussion over Motion of Thanks on President’s speech is set to continue even today in both the houses of parliament. The discussion in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha began on Monday. The discussion is set to begin after the question hour in Lok Sabha and after Zero hour and question hour in the upper house.
Uproar over Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s controversial statement:
PM Modi will also give a response on discussion of Motion of Thanks in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday at 2pm. Ahead of this Congress leader Adhir Ranjan made a controversial remark against Prime Minister on Monday, which led to uproar in the parliament, though his statement was moved out after much outrage, which was followed by the Congress leader’s apology.
After making remark against PM Modi, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary claimed he was “misunderstood because if his poor Hindi”. The leader said he had no intention to hurt the Prime Minister. "If PM is upset with it, I am sorry".
He said the trigger for his remark that “don't compare Ganga with Gandi naali” (drain) was in context of BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi drawing parallel with Swami Vivekananda and the Prime Minister”.
The leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Chowdhary said by "naali" he had meant "channel."
