New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate "Aadi Mahotsav", the mega National Tribal Festival Today at 10:30 AM at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi. This comes as an effort to showcase the tribal culture on the national stage. The Mahotsav celebrates the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce, and traditional art. It will be held from 16 to 27 February this year.
According to a statement released by Prime Minister’s Office, PM Modi has been at the forefront of taking steps for the welfare of the tribal population of the country while also according to due respect to their contribution to the growth and development of the country. The Aadi Mahotsav is an annual initiative of the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The programme will showcase the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from across the country in over 200 stalls at the venue. Around 1000 tribal artisans will participate in the Mahotsav. Since 2023 is being celebrated as the International Year of Millets, along with usual attractions like handicrafts, handloom, pottery, jewellery, etc., a special focus in the Mahotsav will be on showcasing Shree Anna grown by tribals, the statement informed.
Earlier on Monday, PM Modi inaugurated the 14th edition of Asia's largest aero show -- Aero India 2023 - in Bengaluru. The five-day event will focus on displaying indigenous equipment/technologies and forging partnerships with foreign companies.
Aero India 2023 witnessed participation by more than 80 countries. Ministers of about 30 countries and 65 CEOs of global and Indian OEMs are likely to participate in Aero India 2023. Aero India 2023 exhibition witnessed the participation of more than 800 Defence companies including around 100 foreign and 700 Indian companies.
The Indian companies participating in the exhibition include MSMEs and start-ups, which will showcase the advancement of niche technologies, and growth in aerospace and defence capabilities in the country.
