New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly have around 20 engagements during his nearly 45 hours of stay in Bali, Indonesia, according to official sources, quoted PTI.
PM Modi will leave for the Indonesian city on Monday, to attend the G20 summit. He will hold bilateral meetings with around 10 world leaders and will also attend a community event to connect with Indian diaspora in Indonesia, the sources said.
As per an official source, as quoted by PTI, the prime minister will have a "hectic and productive" visit to Bali. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra had earlier said that PM Modi will participate in three key sessions -- food and energy security, digital transformation and health -- at the G20 summit.
At a media briefing, Kwatra said that PM Modi and other leaders will discuss issues relating to global economy, energy, environment, digital transformation, etc. He did not give a direct reply to questions on whether there will be a meeting with Xi Jinping. Notably, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping had attended the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand in September but there was no bilateral meeting between them.
As reported earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lay out India’s perspective on addressing key global challenges in areas of health, post-pandemic economic recovery and energy and food security at the G-20 summit in Bali.
The summit will also witness the presence of US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The summit of the world’s biggest economies assumes significance for New Delhi as it will see handing over of the G-20 presidency to India by Indonesia at the closing ceremony of the annual gathering. India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022.
