The BJP on Monday won the majority in five out of six municipal councils in Goa where elections were held on March 20. The saffron party also won the majority in the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) winning 25 of the 30 wards where the election was held on the same day.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the BJP’s win in the Goa municipal elections and said the results show the people’s appreciation towards the party’s development agenda. PM Modi also lauded the BJP workers for working hard during the campaign.

“Thank you Goa for the continuous support to BJP. The results of the Municipal Elections 2021 show the people's appreciation towards our Party's development agenda. I laud all hardworking BJP Karyakartas who went among people and worked hard during the campaign,” he tweeted.



Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also expressed his gratitude to the people for “generously supporting” the BJP in the municipal elections.


“I am immensely grateful to the people of Goa for generously supporting Bharatiya Janata Party for Municipal Elections 2021. I would also take this opportunity to congratulate our able candidates and the party Karyakartas for the stupendous victory,” he tweeted.


The Chief Minister also used the occasion to shower praises on Prime Minister Modi and BJP National President J.P. Nadda.


“Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji and guidance of BJP National President Shri @JPNadda ji, our State Govt is committed to work for the welfare of the people,” he wrote in another tweet.
