New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission on Monday via a virtual conference. After the launch of the health mission, PM Modi said that today is a very important day for the country as the drive to strengthen the health facilities of the country, in the last 7 years, is entering a new phase.


PM further said that it is not an ordinary phase but extraordinary.

PM Modi hailed the vaccination drive conducted in India and said that the no health system in the country has been as massive as CoWin. PM Modi said, "With the free vaccine movement, India has administered about 90 crore vaccine doses, therefore creating a record. Certification has also been issued for the same. CoWin has to be credited as well for this achievement."


PM also said that the Arogya Setu app helped a lot in preventing the spread of corona infection by tracking people and their connections who have been infected by the virus.


Digital Health IDs for every citizen: PM Modi


PM Modi said that the Auyuhman Bharat Digital Mission will now connect the digital health solutions of hospitals across the country with each other. Under this, the countrymen will now get a digital health ID and every citizen's health record will be secured.


Expansion of telemedicine consultancy


Prime Minister also said that there has also been an unprecedented expansion of telemedicine during the Corona period. So far about 125 crores, remote consultations have been completed through e-Sanjeevani. This facility is connecting thousands of countrymen living in far-flung parts of the country every day with doctors of big hospitals of cities while sitting at home.


PM Modi also informed that work is going on in India on such a health model, which is holistic, inclusive. PM said that it will be a model that emphasizes the prevention of diseases which means preventive healthcare, treatment in case of illness should be accessible, cheap, and accessible to all.


Both tourism and healthcare are linked: PM Modi


The Prime Minister also focused on the fact the mission has been launched on World Tourism Day. He said that though many people wonder about the connection between health but both have a very strong relationship with each other. PM said that when our health infrastructure is integrated and strengthened, it also affects the tourism sector as tourists won't visit a country which is doesn't provide them excellent healthcare.


PM Modi said, "Hospital & hospitality work in tandem. Today is also World Tourism Day, integrated health infra's positive impact reflects on tourism, especially after COVID. More vaccination means more tourists, which is why vaccination in Himachal Pradesh, Andaman &Nicobar is at pace."


Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission


According to the PMO, the pilot project of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission had been announced by the Prime Minister from the ramparts of Red Fort on August 15 last year. Currently, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is being implemented in the pilot phase in six Union Territories.


The nationwide rollout of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission coincides with the National Health Authority celebrating the third anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). The Union Health Minister will be present on the occasion.


The key components of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission include a health ID for every citizen that will also work as their health account, to which personal health records can be linked and viewed with the help of a mobile application; a Healthcare Professionals Registry and Healthcare Facilities Registries that will act as a repository of all healthcare providers across both modern and traditional systems of medicine. This Mission aims to create interoperability within the digital health ecosystem.
