PM Modi paid homage to Visvesvaraya and called him a visionary engineer and statesman. He continues to inspire generations to innovate and serve the nation, the prime minister said.
National Engineers' Day
National Engineers' Day in India is celebrated on September 15 every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Born on September 15, 1861, in Muddenahalli near Chikkaballapur, Visvesvaraya is considered one of the foremost nation-builders. He also served as the 19th Dewan of Mysuru, formerly known as Mysore, from 1912 to 1918.
He was a renowned Indian engineer. Sir Visvesvaraya was a pioneer in the field of engineering who had a significant influence on the growth of India's infrastructure. He also played an emphatic role in the development of dams, irrigation networks, and other projects.
