New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be chairing a meeting with the Union cabinet at 4 PM this evening. The information was reported by news agency ANI.
The last meeting chaired by the PM was in the first week of January when the covid-19 cases in the country were soaring due to the Omicron variant. It took place on January 9.
In that meeting, the cabinet had given approval to inoculation drive for the adolescent population of the country aged between 15-18 years.
It was also decided in this meeting that the third shot of covid-19 vaccine called the ‘precautionary dose’ will be given to the population above 60 years of age and those with comorbidities with the doctor’s recommendation.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. It also included the Aviation Secretary, Home Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, and Chairman of the Railway Board, among others.
The core agenda of the meeting was to battle covid-19 as the cases were surging due to Delta and Omicron variants of coronavirus leading the third wave of covid-19 in the country. A statement released by the PMO had quoted PM Modi as saying, "Continued jan andolan [mass movement] and focus on Covid appropriate behaviour is critical in our ongoing battle against Covid-19."
