New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who on Monday released the benefits under the PM CARES for Children Scheme, said this will support those who lost their parents to Covid-19 pandemic. “PM-CARES for Children Scheme will support those who lost their parents to Covid-19 pandemic,” he tweeted.
Prime Minister Modi said the nation has overcome many challenges and fulfilled the aspirations of people in the last eight years.
“Driven by the Mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’, the last 8 years have shown how the people of India powered our nation to new heights of progress. India has overcome many challenges and fulfilled the aspirations of our citizens,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
Prime Minister Modi reached out to the children, who lost their loved ones due to Covid.
“I am talking to the children not as the PM, but as a member of your family. I am very relieved to be among children today. PM Cares for Children is a reflection of the fact that every countryman is with you with utmost sensitivity,” ANI quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
Asserting “no effort and support can replace the affection of your parents” Prime Minister Modi said: “In their absence, ‘Maa Bharti’ is with you. India is fulfilling this through PM Cares. This isn't just a mere effort of one individual, institution or government. In PM Cares, the people have added their hard-earned money.”
The Prime Minister said the PM Cares fund helped a lot in preparing hospitals, buying ventilators and setting up oxygen plants during the pandemic.
“Because of this many lives could be saved. Those who left us untimely, this fund is today being used for their children, for the future of all of you,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said the children are also being given Ayushman Health Card through the PM Cares for Children, adding free facility of treatment up to Rs 5 lakhs will also be available from this.
PM CARES for Children Scheme was launched by the Prime Minister earlier on May 29, 2021, to support the children, who have lost both the parents or legal guardian or adoptive parents or surviving parent to Covid-19 pandemic during the period from March 11, 2020, to February 28, 2022.
The objective of the scheme is to ensure comprehensive care and protection of children in a sustained manner by providing them boarding and lodging, empowering them through education and scholarships, equipping them for self-sufficient existence with financial support of Rs. 10 lakh on attaining 23 years of age and ensuring their wellbeing through health insurance.
A portal named pmcaresforchildren.in was launched to register the children. The portal is a single window system, which facilitates approval process and all other assistance for children.
