New Delhi: A doctor and the cabin crew of a Go First flight, travelling from Kannur to Dubai on May 8, saved the life of a passenger who suffered a cardiac arrest mid-flight, the airline owned by Wadia Group said in a statement on Friday. According to reports, recognising the swift action, the airline has decided to honour the cabin crew with a cash reward.


According to reports, the passenger, Younus Rayanroth, was on the Go First flight when he suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest, the airline said.






"As the passenger shouted for help, the Go First cabin crew immediately ran towards the passenger and found him unconscious with no pulse and no breathing. Not a second was wasted, with help of other passengers the casualty was placed on the aft galley floor and the crew began the cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, process," a statement issued by the airline said.


“Our crew members #Abhishek, #Shilpa, #Sumeet & #lmlitemsula were quick to respond & rushed to the aid of the passenger. From the rigorous training that the crew receive, they were quick to calm fellow passengers & identify a doctor on board,” the airline said.






"A doctor, Dr Shabar Ahmed, was also traveling on the same flight, and he treated the casualty with two sets of automated external defibrillators (AED) shock, followed by five Sets of CPR. The doctor together with the cabin crew resuscitated the customer back to life," the airline statement further said.


The passenger was later put on oxygen support and placed in a recovery position. Later, he regained consciousness.


Appreciating the effort of the entire cabin crew, Kaushik Khona, CEO and other senior members of Go First joined the passenger and the doctor through video conferencing in a felicitation ceremony to present mementos to the crew.






Go First has also given a complimentary free ticket to both the passenger and the doctor to fly to any domestic or international sector on the airline's network.
