The government announced the recipients of the prestigious Padma Award on Wednesday, ahead of the 74th Republic Day. A total of 106 people have received one of the highest civilian awards in their respective fields, the Padma Vibhushan and the Padma Shri.


Padma Vibhushan recipients include Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav (Posthumous), late ORS pioneer Dilip Mahalanabis (Posthumous), Zakir Hussain, SM Krishna, Srinivas Vardhan, and Balkrishna Doshi (Posthumous). Padma Bhushan will be bestowed upon nine people and Padma Shri on 91 others.

Rakesh Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala (Posthumous):


Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was a business magnate, chartered accountant, stock trader, and investor has been awarded Padma Shri posthumously. He began investing in 1985 with a $5,000 capital and made his first significant profit in 1986.


MM Keeravaani:


After receiving fame across the world, RRR movie's music composer, MM Keeravaani will be awarded Padma Shri. 


Raveena Ravi Tandon:


Popular Bollywood actress Raveena Tondon is to be conferred Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema. 


Ratan Chandra Kar:


A retired government doctor from the Andamans who worked with the Jarawa tribe on an island 48 kilometres from North Sentinel to be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of medicine (Physician).


Hirabai Lobi:


Hirabai Lobi, a Siddi Tribal social worker and leader who has devoted her life to the betterment of the Siddi community in Gujarat, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Social Work (Tribal).


Munishwar Chander Dawar:


Munishwar Chander Dawar, a war veteran and doctor from Jabalpur who has been treating the underprivileged for the past 50 years, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of medicine (Affordable Healthcare).


Ramkuiwangbe Newme:


Padma Shri in the field of Social Work was awarded to Naga Social Worker from Dima Hasao who dedicated his life to the conservation and preservation of Heraka religion (Culture).


V P Appukuttan Poduvalm:


Padma Shri to be awarded to V P Appukuttan Poduvalm Gandhian and Freedom Fighter from Payyanur for his contributions to social work (Gandhian).


Sankurathri Chandra Sekhar:


Padma Shri to be awarded to a Kakinada-based social worker who has dedicated his life to providing free medical and educational services to the needy (Affordable Healthcare).


Vadivel Gopal & Masi Sadaiyan:

Janum Singh Soy:


Janum Singh Soy, a Tribal Ho language scholar who has worked for four decades to preserve and promote the language, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Literature and Education (Ho language).


Dhaniram Toto:


Dhaniram Toto, Toto (Dengka) language preserver from Totopara village in Jalpaiguri district, will be awarded the Padma Shri for Literature and Education (Dengka language).


B Ramakrishna Reddy:


B Ramakrishna Reddy, an 80-year-old Telangana Linguistics Professor, will be awarded the Padma Shri in the fields of Literature and Education (Linguistics).


Ajay Kumar Mandavi:


Ajay Kumar Mandavi, a Gond tribal woodcarver from Kanker, will be honoured with a Padma Shri in the field of art (Wood Carving).


Rani Machaiah:


Ummathat Folk Dancer from Kodagu, who promotes and preserves Kodava culture through dance, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Art (Folk Dance).


KC Runremsangi:


Mizo folk singer from Aizwal who has been preserving Mizo cultural heritage for over three decades has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art (Vocals - Mizo).


Risingbor Kurkalang:


East Khasi Hills Tribal Duitara Instrument Maker and Musician to Receive Padma Shri in the Field of Art (Folk Music).


Mangala Kanti Roy:


A 102-year-old Sarinda Player from Jalpaiguri who is known as one of West Bengal's oldest folk musicians, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art (Folk Music)


Moa Subong:


A renowned Naga musician and innovator who created the "Bamhum," a bamboo wind instrument that is simple to play and won the Padma Shri in the field of art (Folk Music).


Munivenkatappa:


Veteran Thamate exponent from Chikkaballapur who has worked tirelessly to preserve and promote the folk instrument Thamate has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Art (Folk Music).


Domar Singh Kunvar:


Natya Nacha, an artist from Chhattisgarhi, has dedicated his life to upholding the tradition of receiving the Padma Shri in the field of art for the past five decades (Dance).


Parshuram Komaji Khune:


Zadipatti Rangbhumi, a Gadchiroli artist who has played 800 different roles in over 5,000 drama shows, has been awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art (Theatre).


Ghulam Muhammad Zaz:


Padma Shri is awarded to an 8th-generation Santoor Craftsman from a family known for making the finest Santoors in Kashmir for the last 200 years (Craft).


Bhanubhai Chitara:


Padma Shri is awarded to a 7th-generation Kalamkari artist from the Chunara community for carrying on the legacy of the 400-year-old traditional craft of Mata ni Pachedi (behind Mother Goddess) (Painting).


Paresh Rathwa:


Pithora Artist from Chhota Udepur will receive a Padma Shri in the field of art for her work preserving ancient cultural heritage (Painting).


Kapil Dev Prasad:


Bawan Buti handloom weaver from Nalanda, Kapil Dev Prasad, to be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of art (Textile).


The Padma Award, established in 1954, is one of India's highest civilian honours. Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri are the three categories. These awards are given to recognise outstanding achievements in a variety of fields, including the arts, literature, science, and public service.


The President of India bestows the awards at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Both Indian citizens and foreign nationals are eligible for the awards. The awards are chosen based on the recommendations of a specially appointed committee and are considered one of the most prestigious awards in India.
