No Restrictions To Be Imposed On Movement Of Medical Oxygen, Orders MHA; Check Other Directives

MHA on Oxygen Transport Guidelines: To ensure uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen across the country for treatment of Covid-19 patients, the Home Ministry has directed governments of states and union territories to follow new directives.

New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs issued a fresh order on Thursday announcing that no restrictions shall be imposed on the movement of Medical Oxygen between the State and transport authorities shall be instructed to accordingly allow free inter-state movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles.

No authority shall attach the oxygen-carrying vehicles passing through the district or areas for making supplies specific to any particular district(s) or areas, the Ministry of Home Affairs added.

To ensure uninterrupted supply of medical oxygen across the country for treatment of Covid-19 patients, the Home Ministry has directed governments of states and union territories to ensure the following measures:

• No restrictions shall be imposed on the movement of Medical oxygen between the states and transport authorities shall be instructed to accordingly allow free inter-state movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles.


• No restrictions shall be imposed on oxygen manufacturers and supplies to limit the oxygen supplies only to the hospitals of the state/UT in which they are located.


• Free movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles into the cities without any restrictions of timings, while also enabling inter-city supply without any restrictions.


• No authority shall attach the oxygen-carrying vehicles passing through the district or areas for making supplies specific to any particular district(s) or areas.


• supply of oxygen for industrial purposes, except those exempted by the government, is prohibited w.e.f April 22, and until further orders.

States and UTs have directed to strictly abide by the supply plan of medical oxygen prepared by EG-II.

Meanwhile, India's total tally of Coronavirus cases rose to 1,59,30,965 with 3,14,835 new infections being reported in a day, crossing the dreadful 3-lakh mark. Active cases have increased to 22,91,428, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The death toll increased to 1,84,657 with a record 2,104 new fatalities. The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 1,34,54,880.
