New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur.
While expressing his gratitude, PM Modi said, "Over Rs 36,000 cr will be spent on this approx 600-km long expressway. Ganga Expressway will bring new industries in this region."
The inspiration behind the expressway is the vision of the Prime Minister to provide fast-paced connectivity across the country, the PMO said.
Starting near the Bijauli village in Meerut, the expressway will extend till near the Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. It will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

"The Expressway will bring numerous jobs and several new opportunities for thousands of youth," he said.
"The modern infrastructure coming up in UP today shows how resources are utilised. You have seen how public's money was used earlier. But today, UP's money is being used for UP's development. Earlier, big projects were started on paper so that they can fill their own coffers," he further added.
'Before 2014 Promises Were Made But Never Fulfilled': Adityanath
During the rally, Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath said, "Every Indian in this country who saw the inauguration program of Kashi Vishwanath Dham feels proud. In this country before 2014, promises were made but never fulfilled. Today, things have changed we have fulfilled all the promises made to the people in UP."
What Will Be Significant In The Ganga Expressway?
About a 3.5 km long airstrip will be constructed at Shahjahanpur on Ganga Expressway. This airstrip will assist Air Force aircraft in emergency take-off and landing. Apart from this, there is also a proposal to build an industrial corridor along the expressway.
The Expressway will boost "industrial development, trade, agriculture, tourism etc. It will provide a big boost to the socio-economic development of the region," as per the PMO statement.
