Opposition leaders slammed Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ramesh Bidhuri's communal statements against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Danish Ali in Lok Sabha on Thursday and demanded a privilege motion against him on Friday, news agency ANI reported. Bidhuri's comment during the Lok Sabha debate on the Chandrayan-3 Mission have been removed from the record.
West Bengal Congress Chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury writes to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking that he take stringent action in accordance with the rules against Ramesh Bidhuri, BJP MP, for using brazenly abusive and unparliamentary language against Danish Ali, a member of a major political party who also happens to be a member of a minority community.
"Its with a deep sense of pain and anguish that 1, as a senior Member of Parliament and Leader of the largest Opposition Party in the House, am compelled to, and in fact, feel it to be my bounden duty to impress upon you the need for taking stringent action as per the rules against Ramesh Bidhuri, MP for using brazenly abusive and unparliamentary words against a Member of a leading political party, Danish All, who also happens to be from the minority community," he wrote in the letter.
NCP MP Supriya Sule and TMC MP Aparupa Poddar have written to the Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha requesting that a privilege motion be initiated against Lok Sabha BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri for making unparliamentary statements against BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali.
Kanimozhi, a DMK MP, also wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker to request a privilege motion against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri.
The CPI(M) sought the arrest of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Friday for delivering a "hate speech" against BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha. The CPI(M) called Bidhuri's statements "hate speech" in a post on X from its official handle. Bidhuri used disparaging language towards Ali in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Speaker Om Birla eventually changed his mind. Union Minister Rajnath Singh apologized for the remarks.
