New Delhi: Reacting to senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar’s recent remarks on being ready to take the role of Maharashtra Chief Minister, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said there is nothing wrong in wanting to be the chief minister but not everyone can hold the top post, news agency ANI reported.

“I have not seen Ajit Pawar's interview. There is nothing wrong with anyone wanting to be a Chief Minister, many like it but not everyone can be a CM. We wish him all the best,” ANI quoted Fadnavis as saying.

Further taking a dig at the former Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis said while the erstwhile government had “red flagged” development works, the current dispensation is committed to fast-track various projects, news agency PTI reported.

Speaking after performing a ceremony and laying the foundation stone for various projects in Bhayandar city in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said, “The previous MVA government had not given enough funds for the development of Mira-Bhayandar township. That government had shown a red flag to overall development but the current government (of Shiv Sena-BJP) is committed to bringing development and will ensure that projects are expedited.”

The senior BJP leader said the upcoming Mahavir Bhavan in Bhayandar will fulfil the needs of the Jain monks and others for camping.

Talking about other projects, he also said that the upcoming metro line in the region has been extended up to Uttan, a coastal town in Thane district.

“I don't know what is going on within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, I have repeatedly said that they are calling themselves 'Vajra Muth' (fist) but it has many cracks, it can never be Vajra Muth,” he said.

Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the Home portfolio, also said an integrated CCTV network will be set up in Bhayandar that will lead to the fast detection of crime.

He said the state will fund 50 electric buses for Bhayandar and asked the civic authorities to ensure necessary medical facilities are made available at the upcoming cancer hospital in the city.
