NEW DELHI: The stage is set for a political slugfest between the ruling NDA and the opposition parties and few hours are left for the motion of no-confidence against the Narendra Modi government. The ruling BJP, which enjoys a majority in the House, has been given 3 hours and 33 minutes in the debate during the Monsoon session, which is scheduled for seven hours.

While the ruling party is confident of getting the support of as many as 314 MPs in the Lok Sabha, here is the take of AIADMK, Shiv Sena, Telangana Rashtra Samithi and BJD.

AIADMK

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam are expected to support the BJP. After the death of Jayalalitha, the way the two parties came together had played a positive role for BJP. It is to be noted that the deputy speaker of Lok Sabah of AIADMK. On the issue of Kaveri River water dispute, TDP did not support AIADMK. AIADMK raised Kaveri issue in Lok Sabha but TDP did not support

Shiv Sena

Ahead of the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, Sena's Parliamentary Party leader Anandrao Adsul has said he has not received any such instructions from the party high command, therefore, kept BJP guessing.

The fight of Shiv Sena and BJP has started after the Lok Sabha elections. There is only one minister in Modi’s cabinet. In the assembly elections, the sword was drawn between the two parties and the fought separately. In Palghar, both the parties had contested the Lok Sabha bypoll against each other. Voting in support of the no-confidence motion is more likely to break the coalition of both the parties.

TRS

The party is expected to boycott BJP as they do not want to be seen with them. The TDP is a strong opponent of TRS. It has 11 members in the Lok Sabha.

BJD -

In Orissa, BJP and BJD are opponents. The Congress too is anti-BJD. If they support any of the camps, then the BJD will be cornered in Orissa. There is also the issue of the Mahanadi river. After the formation of the state in 2000, Chhattisgarh has made six barrages on the Mahanadi. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha used to form a Joint Control Board to settle the matter. Against the creation of barrage on the Mahanadi, the Odisha government had demanded a tribunal to resolve the water dispute in the Supreme Court. In March 2018, the Center had announced the creation of a three-member Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal to resolve Mahanadi's water dispute. Here it is to be noted that BJP is in favour of Chhattisgarh Government.

Just like Shiv Senna, BJD will be deciding today and is likely to boycott BJP.
