New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms. He has isolated himself at home.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader took to micro-blogging site Twitter and informed his followers about his health condition.

"I have tested positive for Covid 19 today with mild symptoms. Following all the necessary protocols, I have isolated myself and I am under home quarantine. I request all those who have come in contact with me to isolate themselves and get tested," Gadkari tweeted.

The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways has also urged everyone who had come in contact with him to isolate themselves and get tested for the virus.

As the third wave of Coronavirus continues to grip the country, Gadkari and several other ministers and political leaders have started testing positive for the contagious virus.

Earlier on Monday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he had tested positive for Covid-19. Even other leaders such as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tested positive lately.

Kejriwal, however, has recovered from the infection and has also resumed going to office.
