The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently probing six cases involving designated terrorist and pro-Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

The agency, during its investigation against Pannun, has so far attached three properties owned by him in Chandigarh. Besides this, several land parcels in Amritsar linked to him have also been seized by the NIA, news agency ANI reported.

The ongoing investigation highlight the agency's commitment to tear down terrorism-linked networks. The details regarding the nature of these six cases and the properties involved are yet to be disclosed by the agency. The NIA has been pursuing leads in order to control the activities related to Pannun and his associates.

"Three properties of Pannun have been attached in Chandigarh. Besides some lands in Amritsar linked to Pannun have been attached," ANI quoted NIA officials as saying.

The officials further added that they have registered 66 cases as of October 15 this year, and the conviction rate is 95.13 per cent.

In September, the agency had also conducted searches at four locations across Punjab in connection with a case related to the promotion of terror-related activities and violence carried out by Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) leader and pro- Khalistani terrorist Gurupatwant Singh Pannun.

The four locations included one in Moga, two spots in Bathinda, and one in Mohali at premises connected with suspects in the case RC- 30/2023/NIA/DLI, the NIA stated.

During the searches, the agency seized various incriminating materials, including digital devices, which are being examined.

The Indian enquiry committee had also visited the United States to investigate the involvement of a former Indian government official alleged to be a part of a foiled plot to assassinate a US national, the US Department of State stated.

In November last year, India had formed a high-level inquiry committee to address the security concerns which the US government had highlighted. Pannun is an India-designated terrorist and holds dual citizenship of both America and Canada.
