On December 31 and January 1, the Uttar Pradesh Police ordered prohibitory measures under CrPC section 144, banning unlawful assemblies of five or more individuals in Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida, news agency PTI reported. Unauthorised processions, religious prayers, and the use of alcoholic beverages in public areas are all prohibited on Sunday and Monday. The use of private drones within a one-kilometer radius of government institutions is strictly prohibited throughout the period, according to the rules.

According to the directive issued by the police commissionerate, police clearance would be necessary for the use of drones in other regions.

"The festivities would begin on New Year's Eve which will continue till January 1. Along with these festivities, various programmes like demonstrations etc. are proposed to be organized by various organizations from time to time," the order was quoted by PTI in its report.

Speaking about the measures on New Year's Eve and New Year for Noida and Greater Noida, Joint CP (Law and Order) Upendra Kumar Agarwal on the Police Department stated: “Bars, Malls and Restaurant owners have been made aware of section 144 of CrPC and the guidelines. People more than capacity should not be allowed to enter, and they should take care of the decibel constraints and timing. We are already conducting a 5-day campaign against drinking and driving. If there is any incident of eve-teasing, we will deal with it."

Regarding the security arrangements on New Year's Eve and New Year for Lucknow, he stated: "Bars and clubs will have to take responsibility for the fact that they will not allow more people than their sitting capacity. Overcrowding leads to anarchy. Sound needs to be put off after a stipulated time. Those drinking and driving will be punished."

"In view of the above, the possibility of disturbing the peace by anti-social elements cannot be ruled out... for which appropriate arrangements are also made to complete it safely and remedial measures need to be taken," the police said.

To ensure peace and harmony in the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate, any malicious elements must be discouraged from engaging in activities that have the potential to create an undesirable atmosphere, it said.

According to the police, violating these prohibitions will be a serious infraction.
