New Delhi: The NEET-PG 2021 counselling will start today, January 12, after Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had announced it on Sunday. The application process for the NEET-PG 2021 Round 1 counselling will start today and will end on January 17.


The Supreme Court in its interim order on January 7 allowed the resumption of medical counselling for NEET-PG admissions for 2021-2022. The court had also upheld the validity of 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) students and 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). 


Mandaviya tweeted that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will start NEET-PG counselling from January 12, following the order of the Supreme Court. He wrote that this will give more strength to the country in the fight against Covid-19.


Before the NEET-PG exam was held on September 11, the examination schedule was changed twice in January and April. 


In order to apply for counselling, candidates must visit the following website: mcc.nic.in.


Candidates, after registration, will have to select and confirm the colleges by January 17, from the list of options available to them. 
The respective institutes will do the verification of candidates from January 18 to January 19. 


Till January 21, the seat allotment process will be carried out. The results of the Round 1 seat allotment will be declared on January 22. 


Once the Round 1 results are declared, the registration process for Round 2 seat allotment will begin on February 3, and end on February 7.


Round 3 seat allotment will be conducted from February 24 to February 28.


The MCC conducts NEET UG and PG counselling for all India quota seats. 15 per cent UG seats and 50 per cent PG seats fall under the all India quota.

The MCC counselling will be conducted in four rounds for both UG and PG medical and dental seats. These rounds are: AIQ round 1, AIQ round 2, AIQ mop-up round and AIQ stray vacancy round. 


The MCC conducted NEET counselling in two rounds till 2020. 


Mop-up and other rounds were only for the candidates intending to apply for Central and Deemed Universities.


The stray vacancy round for the 2021-2022 academic session will be held online, and will be conducted by the MCC for Central Universities, participating institutes, All India Quota seats, or Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats.


Earlier, the round was offline and was conducted by the respective Central University or the participating institutes.


Steps To Register For NEET-PG Counselling


1. Visit the official website of the MCC: mcc.nic.in.
2. Click on the PG or UG counselling tab.
3. The link for registration will be displayed. Click on it.
4. Enter the required information.
5. Register
6. Login and fill the application form.
7. Upload the necessary documents, pay the registration fee and click on submit.
8. Take a printout of the application form.
