Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday attend the 'Navy Day 2023' programme where he will witness the operational demonstration of th Indian Navy, said the officials, as per ANI. The demonstration will inlcude warships, submarines, aerial assets along with Maritime surveillance planes and fighter and trainer aircraft elements, the officials added. 


The warships, submarines and aerial assets that would participate in the demonstration include INS Vikramaditya, warships INS Kolkata, Kochi, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai, Brahmaputra, Beas, Betwa, Tabar, and Subhadra.   


Kalvari class submarine INS Khanderi and the Chetak, ALH Dhruv, MH60 Romeo, Kamov 31, Seaking 42B helicopters will also been seen in the demonstration.


Maritime surveillance planes would include the Dornier and P-8I. The fighter and trainer aircraft element would include the Hawks, LCA-Navy & MiG-29K jets, the officails said, according to ANI. 






The theme of the demo is "jalmev yasya, balmev tasya" (The one who controls the sea is all-powerful), they added. 


Navy Day is celebrated on December 4 every year. 


"Navy Day 2023 celebrations at Sindhudurg pays homage to the rich maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, whose seal inspired the new Naval Ensign which was adopted last year when the Prime Minister commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant," said the Prime Minister's Office in a statement.

The tradition of organising ‘Operational Demonstrations’ by the Indian Navy’s ships, submarines, aircraft and special forces is observed every year on the occasion of Navy Day. 


"These ‘Operational Demonstrations’ provide an opportunity to the people to witness various facets of multi-domain operations undertaken by the Indian Navy. It highlights the Navy’s contributions towards national security to the public, while also heralding maritime consciousness amongst citizens," the statement added.
