New Delhi: On Thursday, Navjot Singh Sidhu has met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi amid speculations of his joining the party ahead of Punjab assembly election.

Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu has already joined the Congress.

Navjot Singh Sidhu who had formed his own political party ‘Aawaaz-e-Punjab’ may contest election from Amritsar East constituency.

According to rumours, Sidhu is pitching for the post of deputy Chief Minister in the Punjab.

However, recently, in an exclusive interview to ABP News channel, Congress’ CM candidate Captain Amarinder Singh has clarified that no such promise is made that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be made deputy CM of the state, in case the party comes to power.

Sidhu a three-time MP from Amritsar was adjusted in the Rajya Sabha by the BJP after Arun Jaitley was given a ticket in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But unhappy with not getting a larger role in Punjab, Sidhu quit the party and resigned from Rajya Sabha.
