Pulwama: A mysterious blast that took place at a private school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama on Wednesday afternoon left at least 12 students injured. As per latest reports, the injured students had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.


The injured students have been shifted to PHC Kakpora for treatment. Generally, at this time of the year, almost all schools in the state remain closed for winter vacations. The cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained. It is still hazy whether it was an IED blast or not.

Jawed Ahmed, who teaches at the school, said: "I was teaching and then suddenly an explosion occurred. I cannot say how many students are injured."

The Police said the blast took place at 2:30 inside a classroom of a private school, Falai-e-Millat, in Narbal area of Pulwama district. At least 12 students have sustained injuries and their condition is stable, they said, adding that a case has also been registered and investigation is underway.


Meanwhile, earlier in the day, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Budgam. Incriminating material and large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site in Gopalpora village of Chadoora area.
