Mumbai police arrested six people in Navi Mumbai for allegedly assaulting a man, accused of stealing spices from the firm where he worked. Not only did they thrash the man but they even forced him to lick the shoes of the firm's proprietor. An APMC police station official stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening (March 27), news agency PTI reported.
The man was accused of stealing cardamom for which he was beaten up, stripped, and forced to lick the shoes of the accused proprietor. The accused assaulted the worker along with five other staff members and also videoed the entire incident.
The proprietor of the trading firm who assaulted the man is Raunak Dayaljibhai Bhanushali. The five other staff members who were involved in the incident have been identified as Sanjay Chowdhary, Virendra Kumar Laxman Gautam, Lalaji Babubai Pagi, Karan, and Yogesh, the police official stated on Thursday.
ASP Booked For Forcing Man To Lick Shoes In Police Station
An assistant police inspector was booked for assaulting a 28-year-old Dalit man inside the police station premises in Navi Mumbai in January last year. The officer, Dinesh Patil, was booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act as he also hurled casteist abuses against the victim, Vikas Ujgare.
As per reports, Patil allegedly spat on the victim's face and even forced him to lick his shoes at the police station. Patil held a grudge against Ujgare as the latter had complained to senior police officers about Kalamboli police station officers, who were hesitant to file his complaint after Ujgare was duped in a cyber scam, Indian Express reported.
After assaulting him, the Kalamboli police took him to MGM Hospital located in Kamothe, and left after dropping him there. Ujgare had to be hospitalised for three days because of the injuries he had suffered during the assault. A case in the matter was only registered after Ujgare approached the Navi Mumbai police commissioner, the report stated.
