Two foreign nationals were found with cocaine worth Rs 18 crore by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Saturday at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in this city, an official said, news agency PTI reported.


According to him, one of the passengers is a 27-year-old Kenyan guy who works as a "clown," and the other is a 30-year-old Guinean lady who works in the clothes industry.

The two were detained after leaving Addis Ababa by an Ethiopian Airlines flight, according to the tip-off, PTI reported.


It was discovered that they were carrying four empty purses. Eight plastic packets carrying 1.8 kg of cocaine were found when they were cut open, the official claimed.

"Two passengers who arrived from Addis Ababa to Mumbai were intercepted at CSMI Airport. 8 plastic pouches containing Cocaine were found in 4 handbags with them. Weight of the recovered substance is 1,794 grams valued at approx Rs 18 cr in international market," DRI Mumbai was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.






Further investigation on the matter is underway.
