Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed the officials to ensure that money is transferred to the farmers’ bank accounts within 72 hours of crop procurement.

An official release in this regard comes as Rabi crop procurement for 2022-23 began on Friday, PTI reported.

“The money for the procurement of wheat should be transferred in the bank accounts of the farmers within 72 hours of the crop procurement,” Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister, who chaired a high-level review meeting, added the “officers should make all the necessary arrangements for the procurement of wheat in their respective districts so that farmers do not face any problem”.

Adityanath has also directed the officials to guarantee timely lifting of crop from the mandis besides ensuring all necessary arrangements for the farmers at the mandis.

The Chief Minister’s assertion comes as the Central government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat at Rs 2,015 per quintal.

With this development, the ruling dispensation has hiked the MSP by Rs 40 from the rate of Rs 1,975 last year.

Uttar Pradesh is purchasing the crop at the MSP announced by the Centre.

So far, over 1,48,383 farmers have registered themselves for selling their produce as per the department officials.

A total of 4,593 centres have been opened for the farmers’ convenience and the purchase has begun in 3,980 centres.

The Uttar Pradesh government has also introduced new devices and technology to help the farmers receive the best price for their produce.

The purchase is being done on the basis of the farmers’ biometric verification or their authorised representatives at the centres.
