Here are some important points of PM Modi's speech:
- Talking about his responsibilities are the Prime Minister of the country. Modi said, "In last 8 years... not even once did I vision myself as PM. Only when I sign documents do I have the responsibility of PM but as soon as the file is gone, I'm no longer a PM...I'm just a Pradhan Sevak of 130 cr people who're everything in my life & my life is also for you."
- Talking about the work done by the BJP government in the last 8 years, he said that his government will take care of the children who lost their parents during the pandemic. PM Modi said, "Our government has decided to take care of thousands of such children, yesterday I also sent some money to them through cheque."
- Taking a jibe at the previous governments, PM Modi said that before 2015, parties that ruled the nation had considered corruption as an essential part of the system. The then government had succumbed to corruption instead of fighting it, then the country was watching that the money of the schemes is looted before reaching the needy.
- Speaking about how the BJP government has brought change not only within the country but globally, he said, "before 2014, he used to say to people that India will not be dominated by anyone and we will talk eye to eye and the situation is true now. Today India does not extend the hand of friendship in compulsion. Today India extends a helping hand.
- The Prime Minister said, "We have to work for the bright future of the coming generations, for the bright India of the 21st century. An India whose identity is not that we lack resources but digitalisation.
- Attacking the opposition parties, PM Modi said, " (Earlier) talks used to be about 'atki latki bhatki' schemes, nepotism, scams but today talks are about benefits from govt schemes...Today India's start-ups are being talked about globally. Even World Bank talks about India's Ease of Doing Business..."
The Assembly election in Himachal Pradesh is scheduled to be held later this year.
PM Modi last visited Himachal Pradesh on December 27 to address a rally at the Paddal ground in Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur's home district Mandi to mark the fourth anniversary of the BJP government in the state.
