Days after the massive overhaul of his cabinet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday chaired the first high-level meeting with the new Union Ministers at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. During the meeting, which lasted for hours, several key decisions were taken.


While addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur announced the decisions taken by the Central government. 


Here are the snippets of the meeting:


i. The Union Cabinet approves the continuation of Rebate of State and Central taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) on the export of apparel/ garments and made-ups. The move will boost export in global markets.


ii. The Union Cabinet has approved revising and realigning various components of Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying Schemes and Special livestock package for leveraging the investment of Rs 54,618 crores.


iii. The Union Cabinet has also approved the continuation of National AYUSH Mission, as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2026 with financial implication of Rs 4607.30 crores.


iv. The Union Cabinet has approved change of nomenclature & mandate of North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) as North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR).


v. The Union Cabinet even approved the scheme for the promotion of flagging of merchant ships in India by providing subsidy support to Indian shipping companies in global tenders floated by Ministries and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).


vi. Meanwhile, the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and pensioners has been increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. This will be applicable from July 1, 2021
