Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's mother and sister Rubya Sayeed met her on Thursday at Chashmashahi Resort, where she has been kept under detention. The first request from her daughter Sana was received in the DC office Srinagar on Aug 27 and they were informed that no permission was required and the concerned Superintendent would facilitate the visit. Rubya Sayeed reached Srinagar on Wednesday evening and met her on Thursday.


A letter is being circulated by Iltija Javed, Mehbooba's daughter, which was neither delivered or sent/faxed/ mailed to DC office Srinagar. However, it was received via Signal App on Aug 27. There has never been any prohibition on family members meeting her, government sources said.

On Wednesday Sheharyar Khanum, daughter of PDP leader Nayeem Akhter, was being shown on a news channel as saying she wasn't allowed to meet her father. She met her father on August 23 and 25. His wife met him on August 17, 23, 25. More than 25 friends, family members and relatives have met Nayeem Akhter as she spoke, the sources said.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba and Omar Abdullah were put on preventive detention a day before government presented amendment to scrap article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, in front of the parliament.
