Meerut: Tragedy came calling upon the Gregorys after their two sons succumbed to Covid-19 in a span of few hours. Joefred Varghese Gregory & Ralfred George Gregory contracted the deadly virus in Hyderabad on April 24th where they both were working after completing computer engineering.
According to a Times of India (TOI) report, after struggling with the virus both of them passed away on May 13th & 14th just hours apart.

Joefred & Ralfred were known to do everything together ever since they were children and were inseparable. Their parents were teachers and had to struggle a lot to raise the three children - the twins & their elder brother Nelfred - with the best education they could afford. The twins wanted to give back to their parents and were planning to move aboard for greener pastures.
The two had pursued B Tech together from Karunya University in Coimbatore and were said to be well-built and 6 feet tall.
They lived in Meerut's Cantonment area, the family initially treated the brothers at home, thinking the fever would subside. But it didn’t. “We purchased an oximeter. When their oxygen level dropped to 90, doctors advised us to take them to hospital. We admitted them to a private one on May 1,” their father Gregory told TOI. While the first report confirmed that Joefred & Ralfred were positive a PT-PCR test which they took after a few days showed a negative result.
The doctors of the the hospital were planning to move the young men out of the ICU to Covid ward but at Gregory's request they were observing them for two more days. The mother Soja got the call on May 13th that Joefred had passed away. Hours later after Ralfred had called his parents to enquire about Joefred's health he too unfortunately breathed his last.
Gregory told TOI that he knew that if his sons had to make it, they would come home together. Or they wouldn’t. “Whatever happened to one, it happened to the other,” he said.
