NEW DELHI: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday hit out at BJP over derogatory remarks made by Dayashankar Singh against her and Una incident and said that its anti-Dalit mindset has now been exposed.

"It's sad thing is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still silent about the Una (Gujarat) incident, this shows that BJP anti-Dalits. I opposed the incident in Parliament and outside, after that dalits got united Nationwide," Mayawati said.

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Mayawati said that Samajwadi Party governmnet is working under BJP's pressure.

"Uttar Pradesh government is working under Centre's pressure that is why it could not Dayashankar Singh," she said.

She said that the FIR filed against her by Dayashankar's family is a conspiracy of the BJP as the party wants to divert the attention from atrocities on Dalits in Gujarat.

"Dayashankar’s family filed an FIR against me, they should have also filed an FIR against him for using harsh words for me. BJP is making them do this, they want to protect Dayashankar. It's a conspiracy to divert attention from atrocities on Dalits," BSP chief said.

Mayawati urged Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav to arrest Dayashankar Singh for using derogatory remarks against his 'Bua'.

Akhilesh had said that his father (Mulayam Singh) addresses me as sister. So UP chief minister must act and arrest Dayashankar for abusive remarks against his 'Bua'.

Mayawati said that in case Dayashankar is not arrested then BSP, after coming to power, will raise this issue.

"BJP made Dayashankar use foul language against me and thought suspending him will win hearts of dalits ; but this took a U-Turn. I don't think he will be arrested and punished. BSP will alone fight for dalits, poor and will demand for justice. If Dayashankar is not arrested then we will come to power and raise this matter," she added.
