New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hit out at PM Modi led union government during the launch of senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal’s book ‘Shades of truth’ in the national capital on Friday. Manmohan Singh spoke on different issues including employment, farming and border security; and declared central government as ‘unsuccessful’ in every sphere.  He said that the government was incapable of fulfilling promises in 4 years. He also stated that today women and minorities feel unsafe. He further asserted that a politics of coalition is the last resort to take the country ahead.


Next election would be Modi Vs India:

The event hosted not only senior Congress leaders but also several other opposition leaders like Sitaram Yechury, Sharad Yadav, Prafful Patel and Farooq Abdullah. A discussion also took place on upcoming Lok Sabha polls, during which Yechury said “Next election would be Modi vs India”.

Sibal has hit out Modi government’s four years of governance at length in his book.

Government is ending democratic values:  

Manmohan Singh said that government has been incapable of fulfilling promises made to people and also could not the issues of the farmers; which is why farmers have been protesting. Youth have been waiting for 2 crore jobs every year.  The employment level has fallen in last 4 years. “Women and minorities are scared and Modi government is gradually killing democratic values”.

Demonetisation-GST highly affected businesses:

Manmohan raised questions on Modi’s Stand-up India and Make in India schemes and said “Industrial produce has weakened” and these schemes haven’t put any impact on the Industrial produce. He said that “small businesses are yet to benefit from ease of doing business” and these business have been affected from demonetization and GST.
