Amid the ongoing protests over the deaths of two students, who were missing since July, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh while speaking to the media said that culprits will definitely be caught. A CBI team led by the agency's Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar arrived in Imphal on Wednesday to investigate the alleged "kidnapping and killing" of the two students.
"Definitely, we will catch the culprits. Everything will be fine soon," Manipur CM was quoted by ANI on the CBI team investigating the death of the two youths. However, he said that he couldn't give details of the investigation.
A fresh bout of protests erupted on Tuesday after the photos of the two youths – a man and a girl – went viral on social media. Due to this, the state government suspended mobile internet service for five days until October 1. Schools in the state were shut until Friday and curfew restrictions were imposed in all districts of the Imphal Valley.
The CBI teams will have to visit the crime scene, recreate it, collect forensic evidence, and send it to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory. CBI officials will be accompanied by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel while they visit violence-hit areas during their investigations.

"To ensure speedy investigation and keeping the safety of CBI officials on priority, CRPF personnel will accompany them during their visits in violence-hit areas for investigation purposes," the official added.
Anusuiya Uikey Visits Families Of Deceased Students
On Friday, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited the family members of two youths. The governor met the family members of the two students at their respective residences in Imphal West district, reported PTI. The governor consoled the parents of the two students and gave water to the mothers who had been fasting for several days. The governor assured them that action would be taken against the perpetrators as per the law.
The local people informed Uikey about the extensive use of force by the security personnel on the students who launched protests on Tuesday against the killing of the two youths. The state government on Thursday constituted a committee to verify complaints of alleged use of excessive force on protesters, mainly students, by security forces here over the last two days. The northeastern stature has witnessed ethnic strife for nearly five months.
Later, in the evening, the governor also visited the injured students during the protests and met their parents at Shija Hospital, Langol.
