Indian Army in a combined operation with the Kupwara Police, a suspect was captured in the Karnah region of the LOC in Kupwara with weapons and ammunition in his hands.
In response to specific information, a police squad commanded by ASI Muneer Ahmad and a local Army unit searched the Hajitra Karnah home of Mohd Shafi Sheikh, the son of Ali Aksar Sheikh.
Shafi admitted during interrogation that he had hidden several weapons and ammo in a sewing machine at his home.
On Shafi's admission During the search, a pistol, two pistol magazines, 11 pistol rounds, and two live grenades were found, and he was brought into prison.
Investigations have begun after a case was filed against Mohd Shafi Sheikh under the pertinent legal laws.
It's important to note that Mohd Shafi Sheikh will already go on trial in 2021 on charges related to the same case. In the case, further arrests are anticipated.
Earlier last week, the National Investigation Agency had conducted multiple searches in various districts across Jammu and Kashmir in a terror funding case, news agency ANI reported. As per the report, the federal probe agency conducted searches in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu, Srinagar, Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian, and Bandipora districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The case was registered suo-motu by NIA about the funding pattern and activities of Al Huda Educational Trust, which is functioning as a frontal entity for Jamaat-e-Islami J&K, which was declared as an ‘unlawful association’ under UA(P)A in 2019, as per the news agency.
Last Monday, the anti-terror agency conducted searches at two locations in Tamil Nadu in a case related to two self-radicalised Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam supporters planning attacks on commercial establishments and important leaders in the state, an official said on Sunday, reported news agency PTI.
