The Thane crime branch of Maharashtra Police has busted a gang involved in printing fake currency. The police have seized counterfeit currency of Rs 2000 in huge quantity from 52-year-old Ram Sharma and 55-year-old Rajendra Raut.
According to the police, fake currency notes worth Rs 8 crore have been seized from both the accused, who have now been arrested. Both are residents of Palghar and were planning to transport the counterfeit currency to the market.
The police seized 400 bundles containing Rs 2000 fake notes from the possession of Ram Sharma and Rajendra Raut.
A case has been registered with the Kasarwadavali police station and further investigation is on to determine how far and deep their network is spread in the country.
