An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 hit Bihar's Araria in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) informed. The NCS said the earthquake occurred at 5:35 am IST on Wednesday. According to the National Centre for Seismology website, the depth was recorded at 19 kilometres. Meanwhile, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck Champhai in Mizoram, on Monday, informed the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
According to NCS, the earthquake hit Champhai at 6:16 am.
"Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.7, Occurred on 10-04-2023, 06:16:40 IST, Lat: 23.16 and Long: 94.78, Depth: 10 km, Location: 151km ESE of Champhai, Mizoram, India," tweeted NCS.
Meanwhile, a low-intensity earthquake hit the Andaman Islands at 1:07 am on Tuesday. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake measured 3.6 magnitude on the Richter Scale. The depth of the earthquake was recorded to be 15 kms.
Earlier on April 9, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 on the Ritcher scale occurred at a depth of 10 km, Nicobar Island on Sunday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at around 4:01 pm.
A 41-magnitude earthquake jolted Western Nepal on Tuesday.
The earthquake, with epicentre at Baluwa area of Gorkha district, 140 km west of Kathmandu, hit the region at 6:50 pm local time, according to the National Seismological Centre, Kathmandu.
The quake measuring 4.1 magnitude was also felt in neighbouring Lamjung and Tanhu districts as well, according to the officials.
