Deceased's wife seeks justice:
Speaking exclusively to ABP News, Vivek's wife said "Which law gave Uttar Pradesh police a right to shoot him". "The cops are framing him saying he was in an inappropriate position when he was shot, but if he was wrong the cops should have arrested him from his residence" she said.
She further sought explanation from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and asked him to get her justice.
The family of the deceased are now refusing to perform his last rites till CM yogi visits their house.
Accused Constable says 'shot in self defense':
Speaking on the incident, accused police constable said "I tried to stop his car but he didn't stop, thereafter he reversed his car thrice and tried to hit our bike with his car, hence I fired the gunshot in self defence".
Speaking on the incident, Lucknow SSP said, “The car was crossing but the driver didn’t stop, so one of the policemen fired a bullet, post which the car hit the divider and the man suffered several head injured, post which he was rushed to the hospital, where he lost his life”.
“We are yet to be sure if the man died due to bullet or head injury” he said. “We will take necessary action after autopsy report is out” he added. Vivek has left behind his wife and 2 young children.
ADG says 'Incident should not have happened'
Uttar Pradesh ADG Anand Kumar while speaking to ABP News said, "This incident has embarrassed us and should not have taken place. This seemed like murder. We have filed a case against the accused police officer and are considering this as a first degree murder. The police officers had no threat from the deceased".
