Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Police has issued a fresh notice to Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari, asking him to appear before it in person in connection with posts by various people on the micro-blogging platform relating to assault on a Muslim man earlier this month.

The fresh notice to the Twitter India MD has been issued by Ghaziabad's Loni Border Police Station.

“Failing to appear before the police would be considered as non-cooperation in the investigation and action will be taken as per law,” reads the notice to Twitter India MD by the Ghaziabad Police, ANI reported.

Earlier in the day, Maheshwari replied to the initial notice from the Ghaziabad Police and said that he can be available on video conferencing for questioning in connection with the circulation of video in which an elderly man claimed attack by some young men who also “forced” him to chant “Jai Shri Ram”.

Last week, the Ghaziabad Police booked Twitter, a news website, some journalists and Congress leaders over circulation of a video in which the elderly Muslim man identified as Sufi Abdul Samad Saifi claimed attack by some young men.

Earlier on June 5, 72-year-old Saifi was reportedly thrashed by six people. The assailants allegedly beat him and also chopped off his beard.
