New Delhi: Soon after some reports started doing round on the internet, claiming to have details of anticipated Lockdown 5.0 in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak in the country, the Central government on Wednesday cleared the air terming it to be "mere speculations". India is currently under Lockdown 4.o which is scheduled to end on May 31. Certain news claimed that the government is mulling over imposing next phase of lockdown to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will himself make the announcement.

However, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Spokesperson took to Twitter and clarified that all claims made to have inside details about Lockdown 5 from MHA sources are mere speculations. To attribute them to MHA is incorrect and being irresponsible.

The statement from the Centre came after some media reports quoting sources from MHA claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation in the days to come and will unveil government's action plan for Lockdown 5.0.

The media reports also quoted anonymous sources from MHA and made claims that PM Modi, in his address, will emphasise on the lockdown spirit and also announce measures on easing of restrictions in most parts of the country.
