After much of twists an turns in the political corridor of Rajasthan post the rebellion by Sachin Pilot and few other legislators, the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government is set to hold the assembly session in the state on August 14 where the CM is likely to seek a trust vote during the session.
Gehlot, in a letter written to all the MLAs on Sunday, sought their cooperation in fulfilling the promises of bringing welfare and development in the state.
"My appeal to all MLAs is that to save democracy, to maintain people’s confidence in us and to avoid wrong traditions, you should listen to the voice of the people," Gehlot said in his letter.
"Leaders like Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Atalji also faced defeat in elections. However, they never weakened the democratic traditions and constitutional values," he added.
He alleged that even at the time of global pandemic, when he every individual is fighting a tough battle, a few of Congress MLAs along with the opposition lawmakers were engaged in a conspiracy to "destabilise our elected government, which is quite unfortunate".
"You maybe an MLA from any political party but you should decide to understand the feelings of your other colleagues, family members and voters of your region to ensure that the majority government elected by the people is able to work firmly and efficiently for the interest of Rajasthan and that the plots to destablise the government do not succeed."

Further in the letter, Gehlot mentioned of the attempts made to topple the state government led by BJP leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat by buying and selling MLAs in 1993-96.
The Chief Minister maintained that six Bahujan Samaj Party MLAs joined the Congress in the state in the past by following all norms. "They decided to merge with the Congress Legislature Party for forming a stable government and to ensure developmental work in their respective areas within the purview of law," CM added in the letter.
He ended his letter by saying that he is confident that in the larger interest of people of the state, you will be on the side of truth and cooperate in fulfilling the promises made to the people for the development and prosperity of the state.
