Law On Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act To Come In Next Parliament Session: Amit Shah

Amit Shah said that the work of amendment in the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act has been done by the Parliamentary Committee and this law is going to come within this Parliament session.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, the work of amendment in the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act has been done by the Parliamentary Committee with consensus and this law is going to come within this Parliament session itself. Speaking at the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress, Shah said that various cooperative measures have been taken under PM Modi’s vision, as reported by the news agency PTI.

“We have made a database of cooperatives across the country and the work on it is almost complete. With this, we will be able to find out the number of cooperative organisations in every village, region and district at 17th Indian Cooperative Congress event in Delhi,” Shah said, as quoted by PTI.

Shah further said that since independence, the main demand of the workers of the cooperative sector was that the Ministry of Cooperation should be made separate. “The cooperative movement is about 115 years old in our country. Since independence, the main demand of the workers of the cooperative sector was that the Ministry of Cooperation should be made separate,” former BJP chief said.

“A demand for making a separate Cooperative Ministry was pending for 75 years. When PM Modi became PM for the second time, an autonomous Cooperative Ministry was made,” he added.

Shah said that with the formation of an independent ministry, many changes have become possible in the Ministry of Cooperatives and in the field of cooperatives. “With the formation of an independent ministry, under the guidance of the Prime Minister and with the formation of an autonomous ministry with an independent minister and secretary, many changes have become possible in the Ministry of Cooperatives and in the field of cooperatives, and changes will continue to happen in the future,” Amit Shah said.

During his speech in the national capital, Shah said, “The cooperative movement accounts for about 29% of the economy of credit distribution.” He added, “35% in fertilizer distribution, 25% in fertilizer production, more than 35% in sugar production, the share of cooperatives in procurement, sale, and production of milk is touching 15%”.
