New Delhi: 19 soldiers of the Indian Army who were injured in the Ladakh bus accident on Friday were airlifted to Chandimandir command Hospital the same day, reported news agency ANI. The accident had claimed the lives of 7 army personnel.
An Army bus carrying 26 soldiers from Transit camp in Partapur to a forward location in seb-sector Hanif skidded off the road and fell in the Shyok river in the Turtuk sector of Ladakh on Friday.
"Seven Indian Army soldiers lost their lives in a vehicle accident in the Turtuk sector of Ladakh earlier this evening. All 19 soldiers injured in the accident have been airlifted to Chandimandir Command Hospital," said Indian Army sources, quoted by the news agency.
All the 19 injured Indian Army personnel have been airlifted from 403 Field Hospital at Partapur to Chandimandir Command Hospital.
PM Narendra Modi expressed his anguish over the incident. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “Anguished by the bus accident in Ladakh in which we have lost our brave army personnel. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recover at the earliest. All possible assistance is being given to the affected.”
Senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi also offered his condolences to the bereaved family. “Extremely saddened to hear of the tragic accident with Indian Army personnel in Ladakh. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and wishes for the speedy recovery of our injured soldiers,” he tweeted.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also condoled the passing away of the seven army personnel. "Pained to learn about the tragic bus accident in #Ladakh in which we have lost seven of our brave Army soldiers. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and wishes for the speedy recovery of our injured soldiers," Badal tweeted.
The accident took place at 9 am around 25 km from Thoise. The bus fell to a depth of around 50-60 feet, resulting in injuries to all occupants.
