Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen addressing a gathering of farmers in Bihar's Purnea on the second day of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the state. Rahul alleged that the land of the farmers is being snatched away from them to be given as a 'gift' to big industrialists like Adani. While targetting Modi, he said that the prime minister tried to bring back three black laws to snatch away what was farmers' right under their noses.
"Farmers are being gheraoed from all directions. You are pressured when it comes to fertilisers and seed & money is taken away from you. PM Modi tried to do the biggest thing - he brought the three black laws and tried to snatch away what was yours, right under your nose. It was good that all farmers of the country stood against it and they didn't step back. Aapki jaan back gayi. Otherwise, all of you would have been ruined. I think farmers are the spine of the country. But Rs 14 Lakh Crores of Billionaires are waived off...but farmers' loan is not waived off...," the Congress leader said during the address.
He added,"...The truth is that the Government is unable to remove the fear in the hearts of farmers. Farmers have lost their trust in the Government."
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumed day 2 in Bihar today with a flag hoisting ceremony to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Following this, he resumed the yatra from Ambedkar Chowk in Araria, Bihar, and halted at Purnea to interact with the farmers. The yatra will then reach Rangbhumi Maidan in Purnea, where a public meeting is scheduled to take place.
Rahul Gandhi will address his first rally in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Bihar on Tuesday. Coincidentally, his rally is scheduled to take place on the second day of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra across the state, reported PTI.
The rally will also be addressed by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with other INDIA bloc leaders. Kanhaiya Kumar, who also hails from Bihar's Begusarai district, is likely to be present at the rally, PTI reported.
